Otrzymane przez organizację pożytku publicznego środki finansowe pochodzące z 1,5% podatku dochodowego od osób fizycznych mogą być wykorzystane wyłącznie na prowadzenie działalności pożytku publicznego.
Co oznacza zacytowany fragment ustawy o działalności pożytku publicznego? Wskazuje on tak naprawdę, że to sama OPP w największej mierze decyduje, na co wydaje środki. Musi jednak robić to w pewnych granicach. Są one zakreślone w ustawie dość szeroko. Katalog znajduje się w artykule 4 ustawy – to dobrze znana sfera pożytku. Wydatki muszą więc mieścić się w katalogu z art. 4, ale muszą też – o czym czasami zapominamy – być spójne z tym, co organizacja pożytku publicznego ma zapisane w swoim statucie.
